A Federal court gave approval to General Electric and Tokyo-based Hitachi to build a new kind of uranium enrichment plant in Raleigh, North Carolina, which will employ a classified method of laser technology for its enrichment process, Yahoo reports. The plant will further U.S. efforts to foster energy independence, as we currently import 80% of our enriched uranium.
