In an apparent U-turn from the previous administration which was vowing to end Japan’s nuclear reliance, the newly elected Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has said he would approve of constructing new nuclear reactors, Yahoo reports. “New reactors will be totally different from the ones built 40 years ago, those at the Fukushima Daiichi plant that caused the crisis,” Abe said in the interview. Currently, all but 2 of Japan’s 50 nuclear plants are still closed and awaiting regulatory approval to be restarted.
